In the 1840s, Sweden is a country in misery and poverty. 1 million Swedes choose to emigrate to America starting around 1840. What happens in Sweden during this time? Children, young people and the uneducated get an inspiration from God to start crying out for change while those in power do everything they can to stop the children's cries. The film is about some families in a small parish in Sweden during the 1840s and what happens when some of the children in the families there get an inspiration to start crying.
