La República de la Pelota
"La República de la Pelota" is a two-part documentary that portrays how the Dominican Republic has become the world's largest exporter of professional baseball players. It shows how a baseball player is trained, who accompanies him along the way, how it affects the lives of everyone around them, and finally, the rise and triumph to the big leagues, which is the rise and triumph of an entire country. Narrated by former Major Leaguers Carlos Peña and Plácido Polanco, it shows stories of sacrifice, hard work, and overcoming adversity, but above all, it is a look at hard-working people who, even when the odds are stacked against them, know how to come from behind to win the game.
