Kelly leaves her job when she can't handle her boss/lover's constant manipulation of her. During her apartment hunting, she finds a pair of flatmates, Evan and Alex, who agree to live with her. Also in the apartment building live Gabrielle, Alex's best friend, and Jason, Gabrielle's boyfriend. Jason professes his love for Alex and they end up having sex.

Miranda tries to reconcile her failure with Richie's success, and Kelly makes a clean start. Kelly's having a party in the flat. At the party, Jason and Gabrielle announce that they got married, Evan breaks up with Andrena, and Gabrielle finds out about Jason's affair with Alex.

Facing the truth isnt always easy- is it better to live in denial or to seek a suitable distraction? Gabrielle and Jason live upstairs, but as Jason struggles under the weight of his profession as a lawyer will he marry Gabrielle for all the wrong reasons? Alex, a successful doctor, is plagued by insecurities as flatmate Evan continues to write his novel. Into their lives bounces the eternal optimist Kelly with plenty to share.

There are some things one has to endure alone - without the helop of friends or family. After the bomb's been dropped you have to deal with the fallout. Will gets stoned and forces himself on an unsuspecting Sam. Eric invites Alex on an innocent weekend away but has ulterior motivies and Evan becomes delusional about his relationship with Carmen.

Once you release a secret you can never get it back. Alex explores the possiblilty of a flirtation with Miranda's friend Pandora, rousing the vouyer in Evan. Eric becomes the centre of an almost fatal emergency. Richie takes an interest in newcomer Brad and Jason takes charge of his destiny, moving to a place of his own.

When you're young you feel invincible. Alex has mixed feelings about Evan - feeling confused and betrayed. Miranda gets set for opening night of her show just as Richie movies out of the flat.

LIfe is short, play hard. But life can be way too short... Gabrielle keeps the pressure on Alex reffusing to let her off the hook. Richie turns down a role when he learns the character is gay.

Richie finally embraces the gay scene. Evan submits a revealing aarticle to a street newspaper and "outs" RIchie in the process. Will has a reality check, determined to live life to the full.

Suddenly everything is different. Alex breaks out with a huge announcement which usets an stuns Evan. Kelly and her new boyfriend take things slowly and Gabrielle decides to move on from her high- powered career.

How do we know when it's now or never? Richie feels uncomfortable when Brad wants him to experiment sexually with another gay couple. Miranda and Will are becoming very close, and she's slowly letting Richie back into her life. Meanwhile, Evan is accepted into the Writer's Colony in New York.

With Evan still away in New York, Alex's attention is drawn to a fellow doctor at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Richie's made his TV soap debut, but he is struggling to come to terms with life as a gay man. Caitlin and Jason are very pregnant and life is good for them. Jason is optimistic and enthusiastic about his future with Caitlin.

A falling concrete pipe almost kills Will at work. In his mind, fate, Sam's death, and a load of adrenaline are all mixed up, leaving Will feeling invincible. Alex wonders how Rex can time his hard-ons to the second. Kelly decides to broaden her horizons and thinks about leaving her job at Fu Bar, while Miranda's "Pores Afresh" ad debuts with a party.

Evan gets back and finds himself at the bottom of the pecking order, so he declares war on Alex and Rex's relationship. Gab goes for a job interview which feels like a date, while Miranda and Will's relationship takes an unexpected turn. It's fun and they both know it's not serious - sort of. Caitlin is swinging from bliss to pure fear as the baby's arrival draws near.

Richie is having a great, boozy night out with Will and his dad Gordon when he decides to come out. Rex says those three little words to Alex, while Evan tries to kickstart his love life. Caitlin's due to deliver any day now, and Gabrielle feels like she's in the middle of an emotional whirlpool.

Kelly is worried Nathan has the "Six Month Itch" as their anniversary draws near. Miranda finds herself in an on-stage catfight, and Evan tries to subvert Alex and Rex's romance. Gabrielle is reading romantic intent into every one of Dominic's actions. Evan offers a male perspective which leads Gabrielle stumbling into an embarrassing gaffe.

Nathan is totally bored when Kelly puts him on show at a school reunion. She's desperate to impress all her old friends and is embarrassed when he leaves without telling her. At Miranda's urging, Will tries to repair his rift with Richie. Alex drives Evan mad with jealousy, and when he kisses her in the kitchen, she kisses him back.

Alex's world comes crashing down when Rex breaks up with her. It's an ugly, upsetting shock that she didn't see coming. As Evan prepares to launch his novel, Miranda decides to join Will on his trip around Australia, and Gabrielle investigates a case of workplace bullying.

Will and Miranda's departure is imminent, but Miranda's decided she can't go and is wondering how she can possibly let Will down gently. Evan feels secretly responsible for Alex's heartbreak. He decides to shelve his immature behaviour and have a chat with Rex. It backfires when Rex also decides to take matters into his own hands.

Alex is still struggling to deal with Rex's rejection when she's blindsided by some shocking news. Gab and Dominic spend the night out of town and finally admit their feelings. Jason's a confused mess since Caitlin took his baby son interstate. He misses Angus desperately but doesn't know how he feels about Caitlin. He flies to Sydney to sort it all out.

Alex agonises over her pregnancy, then makes a big decision. Her friends rally round. Miranda is mortified when a video of she and Richie having sex mysteriously appears on the internet. She demands that Richie ring her agent and say it was another woman. A sharp slap across his cheek convinces Richie to make the call.

Gab and Dominic finally give in to their desire and their first night together is magical. They admit that they're in love. Meanwhile, Alex is still struggling with the aftermath of her abortion. Evan spends quiet time with her, telling her stories, making her smile, and kissing her on the cheek when she's sleeping.

Since Fitzroy Street Kisses hit the shelves, Evan's become a minor literary celebrity. Then, a pretty journalist, Jemima, dismisses Evan as a wanker. Evan's smitten by her disdain. Gab's parade is rained upon when she meets Dominic's lovely wife, Francesca. When she tries to confide in Alex it leads to an argument about old issues.

Evan's besotted with Jemima but worries that Jemima is besotted with Alex. Jason crosses the line with a female colleague and lives to regret it. Now that Gab has met Dominic's wife, she's feeling full of humiliation. Meanwhile, Nathan's faith is becoming an issue, as Kelly feels excluded from a large chunk of his life.

Kelly is finally invited to Nathan's parents' place for Shabbat dinner, but Nathan tries to pass her off as a friend. Caitlin reveals that she's seeing someone, and Jason is a bit put out. She goes away for the night, leaving Angus in Jason's care. Alex and Jennifer treat a patient with a potentially fatal snake bite.

Kelly's seriously considering conversion to Judaism. She organises a special Shabbat dinner for two, and Nathan is touched, but deep down Kelly is struggling with the idea. Dominic turns up at Gab's place and tells her that he's left Francesca. Miranda receives a new cheque from "Pores Afresh" and decides to put on her own one-woman show.

Evan tries to break up with Jemima by sleeping with somebody else, but Jemima has the last laugh and they're soon breaking up for real. Alex and Christian have a secret encounter that they hide from Miranda. Miranda's still searching for the right play to perform. After reading many, she finds one that moves her to tears and prompts her to reveal a secret from her past.

Evan is furious when Jemima heckles him during a speech and later sprays vinegar all over his room. Alex decides to date different kinds of men and ends up with more than she bargained for. Gabrielle allows her anger with Dominic to compromise the legal case of a union member. Then Dominic reveals that he's moving interstate. It really is over between them.

Signs are not good for Kelly and Nathan. Evan is searching for inspiration wherever he can find it. Writers' block has set in and things are dire until he lucks onto AA and vicariously supercharges his creativity. Gabrielle's questioning everything in work and life, now that Dominic's gone. The job offer from the ACWU is on the table but it all seems tainted.

Gabrielle wants to deface a sexist billboard, but she can't do it alone. After initially refusing, Jason helps out and loves it. It's an echo of their passionate, activist past together. Despite breaking up, Kelly and Nathan are still as close as ever. They know they have to make a clean break, but every time they try it doesn't work. Nick spins back into Richie's orbit.

It's a party at Simon's place and everyone is there. At every party, there's someone you connect with, and depending on the drugs it's deeper than love. Tonight, Miranda and Kelly are party buds and there's nothing they won't share. Alex, even though she's worn down after a gruelling day at the hospital, is glowing. Evan can't take his eyes off her.

Evan wants an apology from Alex. Gabrielle has forgotten Jason's confession of love. Jason tries to say it a second time but Dominic arrives, forestalling him. Beaten-up Richie is healing at home, surrounded by a supportive group of friends, Simon and his boyfriend Nick. Will feels crowded out from his best friend.

Evan's wondering if he's missed his moment when Rex arrives back into Alex's life. Miranda doesn't have enough money to take her show to Edinburgh. She asks Richie for a loan and he lies that it's tied up in investment schemes. Jason discovers that Caitlin is getting married and the thought of losing Gus is too hard to bear.

Alex and Evan's relationship takes a different turn as they both make new beginnings. Kelly takes a leap into the unknown and Christian propositions Miranda's new boss Chloe with a song.

Kelly has the best night of her life with charming and spontaneous Jake, while Alex and Rex have one of their hardest. Evan is also on the town with his advertising workmates. They're taking drugs and talking big, baby.

Christian is spinning out of control despite Evan's effots to help him. Chloe & Miranda's big night out clubbing doesn't end as planned.Kelly bumps into Nathan-and his new wife. Evan helps Gabrielle to choose a flatmate. Although she insists on having a girl as a flatmate she finally chooses Patrick to be her flatmate after she spends some time with him.

After a sexy night of salsa dancing, it reminds Gabrielle and Evan of being in Cuba. Gabrielle is closer to Evan than she has ever been. Alex is sure that her supervisor is the main reason she's being sent to Edenhope.

Evan is given complete control in designing a TV commercial concept. It's the first proper work he's been given and he loves it. Meanwhile, Gabrielle bravely re-enters the dating game. When Jake helps Kelly with a bibliography for her university essay, she's smitten. Alex questions her career.

Alex and Rex are leaving for London. Evan helps organise the farewell party but Kelly makes up excuses so she's not involved. Meanwhile Tidy is coping with the decision to let a young patient die. Richie is broke and unhappy. What makes it worse is that he's had a taste of what it's like to be working and earning money - he knows what he's missing out on.

Alex is gone. Gabrielle is road-testing new swimming partners, Evan and Kelly's new housemate Marnie turns their lives upside down, while Evan is working from home trying to make frozen dinners cool for his job. But cool thoughts are hard to come by and his mind keeps drifting to what he should be doing - writing his book.

Gabrielle discovers Tidy's secret past, while Christian welcomes an old girlfriend back from overseas. Evan is playing Devil's Advocate at work, arguing against an ad concept for landclearing.

Gabrielle has a crisis as she defends a male flasher at work. Richie is sick of being broke and considers an unexpected job offer from Luciana. Kelly's first psychology exam is approaching and she's worried about failing and three weeks after being released from advertising hell, Evan hasn't had an idea worth writing down.

Evan gets an invite to his ten year school reunion. It revives memories of school, and his nemesis David Ford. Evan seeks justice. George moves into the spare room in Apartment 6 and Miranda finds out the truth about her acting career.

Kelly really dislikes a Kiwi backpacker that Evan has invited to stay. Tidy is devastated when Fergus returns to hospital, but believes he can get better. Miranda wins a Green Card to the US. She's going to the States to be an actor! It's her dream, perhaps her destiny. But does it include Chloe?

Evan feels guilty about the attack, Kelly is in hospital battered and bruised and Ken has escaped their lives. Miranda says goodbye to Chloe, while the time has come for Tidy to explain to Fergus' family that they will have to let their little boy die.

Tidy and Gabrielle find themselves stood up by their dates and take their friendship to a new level, while Richie considers an offer to be a sperm donor. Evan is deep into writing - until his computer crashes. When George comes to his rescue, coolly fixing the problem in a flash, Evan's preconceived notions of her are challenged.

After their disastrous encounter, Gabrielle lays down the post-sex rules to Tidy, while Christian seduces a close friend of Chloe's and Evan asks George on a date. A chance encounter with a woman asking for money at a tram stop makes Kelly think about her priorities. What should her life really be about?

The boys head off on a fishing expedition, when Christian discovers that Evan and George are together, tensions rise between the 'best mates'. Around the campfire, after a few drinks, tongues are loosened. A little girl changes Kelly's life.

Evan and George don't feel the same way about each other. Richie's quest to become a dad hits an obstacle, with Charlie's help, he may just find the circuit-breaker to set him free. Chloe's been offered a promotion at the call centre by her boss Mack.

Gabrielle's career hits a crisis point. George sees a side of Evan that really disappoints her at a party with his old advertising workmates. Seeing Evan's dark side shakes her faith in the future of their relationship and she discovers how Evan really feels about her. Christian unexpectedly runs into Talia again.

Gabrielle finally realises what she really wants she joins forces with a sexy barrister to fight her unfair dismissal claim against the union. Neither Tidy or Evan is happy with the situation. Evan and Chloe help Kelly run for student council. Richie and Charlie pull on the whites at a game of cricket and reveal their competitive sides.

Evan's on a high - he's got a royalty cheque in one hand, and his newly-finished second book in the other. Richie has also received a royalty check which is much bigger and warms to Christian's ideas on property investment. A showdown with Christian and Richie is imminent. Gabrielle and Tidy are in the love zone, unable to drag themselves away from the apartment - and each other.

Evan has thrown away his book but he still can't write, the old patterns remain. Meanwhile, Richie is shocked when Simon kicks him out of the flat. They lose themselves debating how the return of Saturn is affecting their lives. Kelly's academic horizons expand. Tidy is torn between the past and the present and Alex arrives home.

Alex is back in Evan's life and they rekindle their relationship, while George is offered a job in Sydney. Gabrielle runs for Federal Parliament and Tidy learns to deal with his role as the political spouse. Kelly is struggling to memorise the several formulae needed to complete her Statistics exam.

The fallout from Evan and Alex's encounter lingers as Rex returns. Meanwhile, it's D-Day for Kelly, due to go before a tribunal for her actions, Richie is caught between his lover and friend and Christian is trying to beat his epilepsy by going on a health kick. Gabrielle's election day arrives, while Alex and Evan's relationship changes forever.

Kelly and Evan have had it with the tenants upstairs (Adam, Lucy, and Nikki) - High proximity equals high tension, with communication breakdowns happening in all corners. When the tenants discover they are sharing Lucy's cat's fleas, Kelly declares war.

The accidental 'catslaughter' of Orlando is weighing heavily on Kelly's mind. Lucy tries to prepare Piers' case for Immigration, but things are looking shaky. Stu is incensed that his ex, Karen has 'stolen' Buddha and enlists Christian on a retrieval mission. Conflict between the flats rises but Kelly is determined to restore harmony between them.

Back at Uni, Kelly is nervous about seeing her Psychology lecturer, Frank. But when they do meet up, new truths overshadow old wounds. Adam's position of golden-boy at the broking firm is threatened by the arrival of Marcus, a cocky 'geezer' from the London Office. Nikki's week starts off promisingly with a potential new job offer, but her inability to draw the line between work and play lands her in hot water.

Evan and Jemima's relationship is going from strength to strength, spurring Evan into making an unprecedented proposal. Kellie's got sex on the brain and it's affecting her studies. A dud anniversary gift prompts Lucy to call off her wedding. Christian decides it's time for Stu to purge his ex-girlfriend from his system.

But her happiness is short-lived after she finds out the real reason behind his trip. Elsewhere, Nikki makes a shock discovery about Adam, and Justin tells Bree something he's never told anyone.

Kelly enters Corey's football world and learns a whole new set of rules. It's one thing to get her head around the game but the social aspect of the game gets her insecurities mounting, especially when she meets Corey's ex, a glamorous model. Kelly ends up having a nasty fight with Corey. Is it all over? Speaking of insecurities, Simon realises that dating a younger man has its drawbacks. He's feeling old before his time now that he's seeing the younger Jeff. Meanwhile, Bree's shoplifting addiction is exposed.

When Adam is confronted by an angry client at the brokerage firm, he is forced to question the nature of his work. He did everything that was reasonably expected of him. But did he do enough? Meanwhile, Justin and Adam form an unexpected bond when they share a night from hell.

Nikki has a one-night stand with a mysterious guy and, to her surprise, she can't stop thinking about him. But her new love is giving away very little about himself. When Nikki starts doing her own investigations into what his story is, she may be in for quite a shock. Meanwhile, Lucy asks Stu to help her look for wedding locations. But is Stu falling for Lucy? and can he make the leap from the Friends Ladder? And why is Kelly concerned about the safety of her footy player boyfriend, Corey.

Jeff invites Simon to meet his parents, but what should be a sweet night ends in a fight. Jeff thinks Simon is acting like his father, Simon thinks he is acting like a child. Is this the end of the rainbow? Or will they work it out? Lucy finds herself becoming drawn into the personal troubles of the father of one of her students. Bree is disturbed when Justin makes a play for her mum.

Adam is tempted by an illegal offer in the workplace. Stuart is propositioned by Zelko's 18-year-old sister, while Kelly tries to help Corey cope with the possible end of his playing career.

Justin wants to do his articles at an ethical law firm, but no one ethical wants to employ the son of tax-lawyer Hunter Davies. Nikki is jealous when Lucy connects with Rob and Stuart is upset when Zelko befriends his nemesis.

When Stu and Zelko host a P-party, their guests get promiscuous. With Corey's AFL career over, Kelly hopes he can find a new future, Bree tries to break her drought with Zelko, and Stuart crosses a line with a client.

Nikki needs more out of her relationship than talking to Rob's answering machine — but is Rob ready? Stu tells Lucy something she wishes she hadn't heard. Adam gets closer to meeting his son than ever before.

The gang goes coastal for a weekend in lieu of a hen party for Lucy. The weekend brings Stu and Lucy closer than ever. Rob's indifference to Nikki's attempts at toughing it out make her question the relationship. Will Bree and Zelko get over their fears and get together?

Lucy cancels her wedding and Piers flies immediately over from the UK to win her back. Corey arrives back in town throwing a spanner into the works of Kelly and Justin's blossoming relationship. Adam finally gets the opportunity to meet his son and to see Nikki in a new light. Bree and Jeff fight it out at the Hair Show.
