In the Southern California of 2040, as anti-robot and anti-AI protests rage throughout the country, a female robot named Aria is assigned as the home office assistant of a dying literature professor. The pair develop a friendship against the odds, and the professor's disintegrating health teaches the robot about life and death, and the importance of humanity, the arts, and agency.
